Private sector-led, it is a partnership between the private and public sectors, responsible for setting and driving the economic strategy for the area, determining local priorities and overseeing activities to drive growth and the creation of high quality local jobs. One of 38 LEPs across England it was established as part of the Government’s approach to economic development. This approach puts businesses in the driving seat and empowers the private sector to determine regional priorities.

The spotlight that the G7 brought to the region offered the opportunity for the LEP’s marketing and communications to evolve the narrative around Cornwall to a national and international audience. Our scope was to support the LEP as they embarked on an integrated campaign to make the most of the opportunities that the spotlight offered. From G7-specific pages and a Press Centre added into the website (a project we developed for the LEP before the G7) to a campaign film, more detailed films showcasing Cornwall’s emerging sectors and green ambitions, to content for a print magazine for official delegate and journalist packs, our role was to make sure the LEPs messages and content cut through the noise with strong creative impact.  “Rich in natural capital and alive with opportunity by 2030 Cornwall and Isles of Scilly creative and carbon-neutral economy will be realising opportunities for its people, communities and businesses to thrive, benefiting the environment and providing an outstanding quality of life for all”.

Working with the LEP’s marketing team we developed a campaign for the G7 Summit that showcases key opportunities and leading talent within each business sector in the region. The campaign was aimed at engaging national and international private and public sector audiences including high profile politicians and journalists. Collateral included films and print collateral which became part of the delegate and press pack, press briefings and social media assets.

In the summer of 2021 we worked with the CIOSLEP marketing team to develop a teaser film for Cornwall’s bid ‘Leading from the Edge’ for City of Culture 2025. Having been successful in the initial bid, Cornwall has been selected for the long list along with 7 other parts of the UK, the campaign is currently being developed further.

“G7 presented the LEP with a real opportunity, but it was also a very loud and crowded market. Studio Felt helped us to really cut through and make an impact with our key messages, supporting us in creating content that told the story we wanted to tell, and deliver it consistently and in an engaging way across all channels. Where Felt really stand out for me is they don’t just have creative ideas, but they also work with you to make sure the delivery is to the highest standard across everything you’re trying to do, even when the deadlines are aggressive!”
